Money is a tough thing to talk about, especially in church. I remember the first time I tried to give a tenth of my paycheck, my hands were shaking because I didn’t know if I could pay for my gas. But using prayers for offerings and tithes helped me see that God is the one who gives me everything anyway. It’s not just about the cash; its about showing Him that we trust Him more than our bank accounts. I wanted to write this so you can feel more peace when the basket comes around on Sunday morning.
My favorite prayers for offerings and tithes
Giving is a way to say thank you to God for being so good to us. When we give our tithes, we are basically saying that we know God will take care of the rest of our money. I have found that if I pray before I give, I don’t feel so worried about the bills. It’s like talking to a friend about a gift you’re excited to give them. Here are some simple ways you can pray when you are ready to give back to the Lord.
1. Having a happy heart while giving
Sometimes we give because we feel like we have to, not because we want to. That’s called giving out of guilt, and it doesn’t feel very good in your chest. I used to feel annoyed when I had to write a check, but then I realized that God wants me to be happy about it! He loves it when we smile while we are helping out the church. If you’re feeling grumpy about your money, just ask Him to change your heart so you can feel the joy of being generous.
Bible Verse: 2 Corinthians 9:7 – “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
How to pray: Take your money or your phone (if you give online) and hold it for a second. Ask God to take away any stingy feelings and replace them with a big, happy smile inside your soul.
The Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, please help me to be a happy giver today. I don’t want to feel like I’m losing something, but like I’m planting something good. Take away my grumpiness and help me to be excited that I can help my church. Thank You for providing for me so that I have something to give back to You. I give this with a big smile and a thankful heart. Amen.
2. When you are worried about your bills
There are weeks where the car breaks down or the light bill is way higher than you thought it would be. In those times, giving a tithe feels almost impossible. I have been there many times where I had to choose between a full tank of gas or giving to the church. But God says we should test Him in this. If we give to Him first, He has a way of making the rest of the money stretch further than we ever thought it could.
Bible Verse: Malachi 3:10 – “‘Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,’ says the Lord Almighty, ‘and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.'”
How to pray: Tell God exactly how much you are worried. Don’t hide it! Then, tell Him that even though you are scared, you are going to trust His promise to open the windows of heaven for you.
The Prayer: Lord, You know my bank account is looking real low right now and I am kind of scared. But I want to trust Your Word more than my eyes. Please take this tithe and use it for Your glory. I ask that You would bless the rest of my money so that I can pay every single bill I have this month. Thank You for being my Great Provider even when things look tough. Amen.
3. Praying for the church building and lights
It costs a lot of money to keep a church running! There is the air conditioning, the water, and the paint on the walls. When we give, we are helping to make sure there is a safe and warm place for people to come and hear about Jesus. I like to think that my small offering might be the reason someone else has a comfortable chair to sit in while they learn about God’s love. It’s a way of taking care of our spiritual home.
Bible Verse: 2 Chronicles 24:10 – “All the officials and all the people brought their contributions gladly, dropping them into the chest until it was full.”
How to pray: Look around the room where you are sitting. Think about the lights and the carpet. Ask God to use your gift to keep the doors open for anyone who needs a friend.
The Prayer: Dear God, thank You for this church building where we can come and worship You together. I give this offering today to help pay for the things that keep this place running well. Please bless the people who manage the money so they use it wisely. Let this building be a lighthouse for our whole town so that many people can come inside and find Your peace and love. Amen.
4. Giving your very first and best
My dad always told me that we shouldn’t give God our leftovers. If we spend all our money on pizza and clothes and then give God whatever is left in our pocket, it shows Him where our heart is. Giving the “first fruits” means we give to Him before we do anything else. It shows Him that He is the most important person in our life. It’s a habit that changes how you look at every single dollar you earn from your job.
Bible Verse: Proverbs 3:9 – “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops.”
How to pray: When you get your paycheck, don’t wait until the end of the week to give. Pray and give right away as a way of putting God at the very top of your list.
The Prayer: Heavenly Father, I am giving You this money from the very beginning of my paycheck. I want to show You that You are number one in my life. Thank You for the strength to work and the job that I have. Please accept this first fruits offering as a sign of my love and respect for You. Help me to manage everything else I have in a way that makes You proud. Amen.
5. Blessing the hungry through your gift
A lot of churches use the money from prayers for offerings and tithes to buy food for people who don’t have any. When you drop your money in, you might be buying a bag of rice or some bread for a family down the street. That makes me feel real good inside. It’s like God is using my hands to feed someone else’s stomach. We are the way that God takes care of the poor in our neighborhoods.
Bible Verse: Proverbs 19:17 – “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.”
How to pray: Close your eyes and think about someone who is hungry today. Ask God to turn your money into a meal that helps them feel strong and loved by Him.
The Prayer: Lord, please take this offering and use it to help people who are struggling to eat. I know that there are many folks in our town who are hungry tonight. I pray that this money goes to buy good food for them. Let them know that You see them and that You are providing for their needs through the church. Thank You for letting me be a small part of Your big plan to help. Amen.
6. For the kids in Sunday School
The money we give also goes to buy crayons and snacks and Bibles for the little kids. I remember how much I loved the snacks in Sunday School when I was little! Those kids are the future of the church, and they need to know that they are worth the investment. When we give, we are helping to teach the next generation that God is real and that He loves them more than anything in the whole wide world.
Bible Verse: Matthew 19:14 – “Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.'”
How to pray: Think about the noise of the kids playing in the hallways. Ask God to use your money to buy things that help them understand the Bible in a fun way.
The Prayer: Dear God, please bless the children in our church today. I give this money to help buy the things they need to learn about You. I pray that the snacks, the toys, and the lessons would all point them toward Your love. Help them to grow up knowing that they have a church family that cares about them. Thank You for the life and the energy that kids bring to our church. Amen.
7. Helping missionaries far away
Did you know that our tithes often travel across the ocean? Many churches send money to people who go to other countries to tell folks about Jesus. These people are called missionaries, and they need our help to have a place to live and food to eat while they work. It is so cool to think that my five or ten dollars could be helping someone in Africa or Asia hear the Gospel for the very first time.
Bible Verse: Matthew 28:19 – “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
How to pray: Imagine someone on the other side of the world who has never heard of Jesus. Ask God to use your money to send someone to talk to them.
The Prayer: Lord, I pray for the missionaries who are serving You in far-away places. Please use this offering to provide for their needs and to help them share the Good News. I want people everywhere to know about Your love and Your salvation. Thank You for the chance to help spread Your message even though I am staying right here at home. Please keep them safe and successful in their work. Amen.
8. Breaking the power of greed
Sometimes I want to keep all my money for myself. I see a new pair of shoes or a cool game and I think, “I could spend my tithe on that instead.” That is greed talking, and it can really mess up your life. Giving is the best way to kill greed. When you let go of your money, greed loses its grip on your heart. It reminds you that things don’t make you happy, but God does.
Bible Verse: Luke 12:15 – “Then he said to them, ‘Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.'”
How to pray: If you feel like you are being selfish, just tell God. Ask Him to help you be a “pipe” that money flows through, rather than a “bucket” that just holds it all.
The Prayer: Dear God, please help me not to be greedy. Sometimes I want to hold on to every dollar so tight that my hands hurt. Please help me to trust that I don’t need more stuff to be happy. I give this offering to break the power of selfishness in my life. Help me to be a generous person who loves to help others more than I love to buy things for myself. Amen.
9. Wisdom for the people in charge
The pastor and the board members have a big job of deciding how to spend the church’s money. It’s a lot of pressure! They have to make sure the bills are paid and the staff gets a salary. We should pray that they have “God-wisdom” so they don’t waste any of the money we give. When they use the money right, the whole church grows stronger and more people get helped in our community.
Bible Verse: Proverbs 11:14 – “For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers.”
How to pray: Think about the leaders in your church. Ask God to give them clear heads and honest hearts as they look at the budget and pay the bills.
The Prayer: Lord, please give our church leaders great wisdom. They have to decide how to use the money that we all give, and I pray that You would guide them. Help them to be honest and careful with every single penny. Let them see the best ways to help people and to grow our church. Thank You for the people who volunteer their time to manage these things for us. Amen.
10. For the person who has nothing to give
I’ve had times where I literally had zero dollars in my pocket. I felt so embarrassed when the basket went past me and I couldn’t put anything in. But God knows our hearts! If you can’t give money, you can give your time or your prayers. We should pray for the people who are in a “dry season” so that they don’t feel ashamed, and so that God blesses them with a job soon.
Bible Verse: Mark 12:43-44 – “Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, ‘Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.'”
How to pray: If you are broke today, don’t worry. Just offer God your heart and ask Him to help you get back on your feet so you can give again.
The Prayer: Dear God, You know that I don’t have any money to give today. I feel a little bit sad about it, but I know You love me anyway. I give You my heart and my service instead. Please bless me with a way to earn more money so that I can be generous in the future. Thank You for always loving me no matter how much is in my wallet. You are my true treasure. Amen.
11. Multiplication of the gift
Remember the story where Jesus took a few fish and some bread and fed thousands of people? He can do that with our money too! You might think your ten dollars doesn’t matter, but in God’s hands, it can become something huge. We should pray that God “multiplies” what we give so it does more than we could ever imagine. A little bit goes a long way when the Holy Spirit is involved.
Bible Verse: Matthew 14:19-20 – “Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves… and they all ate and were satisfied.”
How to pray: As you give, imagine God taking your small gift and growing it into a giant blessing. Ask Him to do a miracle with the amount you have today.
The Prayer: Lord, I know this might not seem like a lot of money, but I give it to You anyway. I ask that You would multiply it just like You did with the loaves and the fish. Let this small offering do big things in our church and our town. I trust You to make it enough for whatever the need is. Thank You for the miracle of how You can take a little and make it a lot. Amen.
12. Thanking God for a steady job
If you have a job, that is a huge blessing from God. He is the one who gives us the strength to wake up and the brain power to do our work. Using prayers for offerings and tithes is a great way to say, “Thanks for my job, Lord!” It connects our work life to our spiritual life. When we give from our salary, we are acknowledging that God is our real Boss and the one who keeps us employed.
Bible Verse: Deuteronomy 8:18 – “But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth.”
How to pray: Think about your workplace and your coworkers. Thank God for the ability to earn a living and ask Him to bless your company or your boss.
The Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You so much for the job that I have. Thank You for giving me the health and the skills to earn this money. I give this tithe as a way to show my gratitude for Your provision. Please bless my workplace and help me to be a good worker who honors You. Thank You for always making sure I have a way to take care of my family. Amen.
13. For a heart of contentment
Contentment means being happy with what you have right now. If we always want the next big thing, we will never feel like we have enough to give. Giving helps us stay content because it reminds us that we already have plenty. When we let go of some money, we are saying, “I have enough.” It stops the “I want, I want, I want” voice in our heads and makes us feel peaceful.
Bible Verse: 1 Timothy 6:6 – “But godliness with contentment is great gain.”
How to pray: Look at your clothes and your shoes and your home. Thank God for them and ask Him to help you be perfectly happy with what you already own.
The Prayer: Dear God, please help me to be content with what I have. I don’t want to always be chasing after more money or more things. I give this offering because I know You have already given me so much. Help me to find my joy in You and not in the things I can buy. Thank You for being enough for me every single day of my life. Amen.
14. Giving for those in a crisis
Sometimes something bad happens in our town, like a fire or a flood. The church is usually the first place people go for help. When we give our offerings, we are making sure the church has a “emergency fund” to help neighbors when their lives fall apart. It’s like being part of a big safety net for our community. Your gift today could be the help someone needs during their worst week ever.
Bible Verse: Galatians 6:2 – “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
How to pray: Think about anyone you know who is going through a hard time. Ask God to use your money to lift their burden and give them some hope.
The Prayer: Lord, please use this offering to help people who are in a crisis right now. If someone loses their home or their job, I pray that our church can be there to help them. Let this money provide the comfort and the resources they need to get through the storm. Thank You for letting me help carry the burdens of my neighbors. Let Your love shine through our giving. Amen.
15. For the music and worship team
I love the songs we sing in church, but guitars and microphones and sound boards cost money! The music helps our hearts get ready to hear from God. When we give, we are supporting the people who lead us in worship. It helps create a beautiful atmosphere where people can feel God’s presence. Even if you can’t sing well, your giving helps make the music happen for everyone else to enjoy.
Bible Verse: Psalm 150:6 – “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.”
How to pray: Listen to the music during the service. Thank God for the singers and the musicians and ask Him to use your gift to keep the praise going.
The Prayer: Dear God, thank You for the gift of music and the people who lead us in worship. I give this offering to help provide the tools they need to give You praise. Let the songs we sing touch people’s hearts and bring them closer to You. Bless the musicians and give them a heart of worship as they lead us every week. Thank You for the joy of singing to You. Amen.
16. To keep the focus on Jesus
Money can be a big distraction. We can get so busy worrying about it that we forget about Jesus. Giving our tithes is a way to “reset” our focus. It’s like a spiritual habit that reminds us why we are here. When we put our money in the bucket, we are saying, “Jesus, You are the owner of my life.” It keeps our eyes on the Cross instead of on the dollar signs in our eyes.
Bible Verse: Matthew 6:21 – “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
How to pray: As you give, tell Jesus that He is your greatest treasure. Ask Him to help you keep Him at the center of all your thoughts and your plans.
The Prayer: Lord Jesus, I give this money to You because You are the most important thing in my life. I don’t want to be distracted by money or success. Please keep my heart focused on You and Your kingdom. I want my treasure to be in heaven, not here on earth. Thank You for being my Savior and for showing me what real wealth is. I love You, Lord. Amen.
17. For the youth and teenagers
Teenagers have it real hard these days with all the stuff on the internet and at school. Our church needs money to have cool events and trips for them so they can find good friends. When we give, we are investing in the young people so they don’t get lost in the world. I want them to have a place where they feel safe to ask questions and grow their faith.
Bible Verse: Psalm 119:9 – “How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word.”
How to pray: Think about a teenager you know who is struggling. Ask God to use the youth ministry to help them find the right path and to know they are loved.
The Prayer: Dear God, please bless the youth ministry in our church. I give this offering to help provide a place for teenagers to learn about You and make good friends. Please protect our young people and help them to stay on the right path. Let them find hope and purpose in Your Word. Thank You for the energy and the questions they bring to our church family. Amen.
18. Giving with a partner or spouse
If you are married, giving together is a great way to stay on the same page. It’s good to talk about your money and decide together how much to give. It builds unity in your marriage when you both agree to put God first. If one person wants to give and the other doesn’t, it can cause problems. Praying together about your tithes helps you both to trust God with your family’s future.
Bible Verse: Matthew 18:19 – “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.”
How to pray: Hold hands with your husband or wife and ask God to bless your finances. Agree together that you will always put Him first with your money.
The Prayer: Lord, we come to You as a couple and we give this offering together. We want our marriage to be built on Your promises. Please bless our home and help us to be a team when it comes to our money. Thank You for providing for our family and for giving us the chance to be generous together. Help us to always trust You with our future and our finances. Amen.
19. For the senior citizens’ ministry
Our older folks have given so much to the church over the years. Now, it’s our turn to take care of them! Money goes to help with luncheons or trips or just visiting them when they are shut in. We should honor our elders because they have a lot of wisdom to share. When we give, we are making sure they don’t feel forgotten by the church they helped build.
Bible Verse: Leviticus 19:32 – “Stand up in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God. I am the Lord.”
How to pray: Think about an older person in the church who always has a kind word for you. Ask God to use your gift to bless them and make them feel special.
The Prayer: Dear God, thank You for the senior citizens in our church. I give this offering to help support the ministries that take care of them. Please let them feel loved and appreciated for all they have done. Give them strength and joy in their later years. Help us to learn from their wisdom and to always treat them with the respect and honor they deserve. Amen.
20. Breaking the cycle of poverty
Some families have been poor for a long time, and it feels like they can never get ahead. But God wants to break that cycle! Giving is a spiritual key that can change things. When we start being faithful with the little bit we have, God can start to trust us with more. We should pray that as we give, God would break any “curses” or bad habits that keep us from being successful.
Bible Verse: 2 Corinthians 8:9 – “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.”
How to pray: Ask God to show you any bad ways you handle money. Ask Him to replace a “poverty mindset” with a mindset of abundance and trust in His power.
The Prayer: Lord, I pray that You would break the cycle of poverty in my life and in my family. I give this tithe as an act of faith that You are my Provider. Help me to learn how to manage my money well and to work hard. I trust that You want me to have enough to take care of my needs and to be a blessing to others. Amen.
21. For the church secretaries and staff
There are people who work behind the scenes every day to make sure the bulletins are printed and the phone calls are answered. They often do a lot of work for not a lot of money. Our offerings help pay their salaries so they can support their families. We should be thankful for the people who keep the “office” part of the church running so the pastors can focus on teaching.
Bible Verse: 1 Corinthians 12:28 – “And God has placed in the church… those who are able to help others, those with gifts of administration…”
How to pray: When you see a staff member, say thank you. In your heart, ask God to bless their work and to give them a peaceful day at the office.
The Prayer: Dear God, thank You for the people who work at our church every day. I give this money to help pay their salaries and provide what they need for their jobs. Please bless the secretaries, the bookkeepers, and the janitors. Give them joy in their work and help them to know that what they do is very important to You. Thank You for their humble service to us. Amen.
22. For spiritual growth through giving
Did you know that giving makes you a stronger Christian? It’s true! It forces you to depend on God. Every time you give, your faith muscle gets a little bit bigger. It’s a way of practicing what we preach. We should pray that our giving isn’t just a routine, but a way for us to get closer to God. The more we trust Him with our money, the more we will trust Him with our whole lives.
Bible Verse: 2 Corinthians 9:10 – “Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.”
How to pray: Ask God to use your offering to grow your faith. Tell Him you want to know Him better and that you are using this gift as a way to draw near.
The Prayer: Lord, I want to grow closer to You. I give this offering as an act of worship and faith. Please use this to grow my trust in You and to make me more like Jesus. I want to be a person of great faith who isn’t afraid to follow You wherever You lead. Thank You for the way giving changes my heart and makes me stronger in my spirit. Amen.
23. Blessing the local community
The church isn’t just for the people inside; its for the whole town! Many churches use offerings to host events for the neighbors or to help the local schools. When we give, we are helping our town be a better place. We should pray that our church has a “good reputation” in the community because of how generous we are. People should see our church and think, “Those folks really care about us.”
Bible Verse: Jeremiah 29:7 – “Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”
How to pray: Think about your neighbors who don’t go to church. Ask God to use the church’s money to show them kindness so they want to know more about Him.
The Prayer: Dear God, please use our offerings to bless this whole town. I pray that our church would be a blessing to our neighbors. Let the money we give help the local schools, the parks, and the people who live nearby. Help us to be known for our love and our generosity. I want our community to be a better place because our church is here. Amen.
24. For those who give in secret
Jesus said that when we give, we shouldn’t blow a trumpet to let everyone know. Sometimes the best way to give is in secret so only God knows. It keeps us from being proud. We should pray for those who give big amounts quietly, and for ourselves to have a heart that doesn’t need applause. When we give in secret, God says He will reward us openly, which is pretty cool to think about.
Bible Verse: Matthew 6:3-4 – “But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
How to pray: If you are giving a special gift, don’t tell anyone. Just tell God, “This is just between us,” and ask Him to use it for His glory.
The Prayer: Lord, I give this offering to You in secret. I don’t need anyone else to know or to say “good job.” I just want to honor You and help people. Please take this gift and use it however You want. Thank You for seeing the things I do in private and for being the only audience I really need. I give this out of pure love for You. Amen.
25. Protection over your remaining money
After you give your tithe, you still have money left to live on. We can actually pray for God to protect that money! We can ask Him to keep the “devourer” away—which is just a fancy way of saying we ask Him to prevent unnecessary expenses like things breaking or getting lost. When God protects our finances, our money goes much further and we don’t have as many “bad luck” expenses.
Bible Verse: Malachi 3:11 – “I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,’ says the Lord Almighty.”
How to pray: Ask God to be a “wall of fire” around your bank account. Ask Him to help you be a good steward of what is left so nothing is wasted.
The Prayer: Dear God, I have given my tithe and now I ask for Your protection over the rest of my money. Please keep away any unexpected bills or accidents that would waste my resources. Help my car to run well and my appliances to stay working. I trust You to protect what I have so I can take care of my family and keep being generous to others. Amen.
26. For those struggling with debt
Being in debt is like having a heavy backpack on your shoulders all the time. It makes it real hard to give. We should pray for anyone in our church who owes a lot of money to banks or credit cards. We can ask God to help them find a way to pay it off fast so they can be free to give more. Debt can feel like a trap, but God can provide a way out if we ask Him.
Bible Verse: Romans 13:8 – “Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another…”
How to pray: If you owe money, ask God for a plan. Pray for an extra job or a way to save money so you can pay off your debts and be free.
The Prayer: Lord, please help me to get out of debt. It is so hard to give when I owe so much to others. Please give me a strategy to pay off my bills and help me to be disciplined with my spending. I want to be free from this burden so I can be even more generous to Your work. Thank You for being the One who sets the captives free. Amen.
27. Gratitude for a roof over our heads
Our homes are a place of safety and rest. Giving is a way to thank God for where we live. Whether you have a big house or a small apartment, it is a gift from the Lord. We can use prayers for offerings and tithes to say thanks for our beds and our kitchens. When we are grateful for our shelter, it makes us want to help others find a place to stay too.
Bible Verse: Psalm 127:1 – “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.”
How to pray: Think about your favorite spot in your home. Thank God for that space and ask Him to use your offering to help others find a safe place to sleep.
The Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for my home. Thank You for a roof that keeps me dry and a bed that keeps me warm. I give this offering as a way of saying thanks for Your protection over my household. Please help those who don’t have a home and use this money to provide shelter for the homeless. Thank You for always being my place of safety. Amen.
28. For the spread of the Bible
Bibles aren’t free to make! It costs money to print them and ship them all over the world. Our offerings help put Bibles into the hands of people who have never read one before. Can you imagine not having a Bible? It would be so hard to know God’s promises. Your gift might be the reason someone gets their very first copy of the Word of God, and that is a huge deal.
Bible Verse: Isaiah 55:11 – “So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”
How to pray: Hold your own Bible and thank God for it. Ask Him to use your money to get a Bible to someone who is hungry for the truth.
The Prayer: Lord, please use this offering to help print and distribute Bibles. I want everyone to have the chance to read Your Word in their own language. Let Your truth spread all over the earth like a fire. Thank You for the way the Bible has changed my life, and I pray it does the same for many others. Use my gift to put Your Word into someone’s hands today. Amen.
29. For the healing of our land
Sometimes our whole country goes through a hard time with the economy or with people being angry at each other. The Bible says that if we honor God with our lives and our money, He can heal our land. Giving is a way of showing that we are a people who follow God’s ways. We should pray that as we are faithful in our giving, God would bring peace and health to our entire nation.
Bible Verse: 2 Chronicles 7:14 – “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
How to pray: Think about the problems in our country right now. Ask God to use the faithfulness of the church to bring healing and good changes to our leaders and our people.
The Prayer: Dear God, please heal our land. We give these offerings and tithes as a sign that we belong to You. We ask that You would bring peace to our country and help those who are struggling. Let the church lead the way in showing love and generosity. We trust You to take care of our nation and to bring us back to Your ways. Thank You for being our King. Amen.
30. Dedicating our whole lives, not just money
At the end of the day, God doesn’t just want our money; He wants us. Giving our tithe is a symbol that we are giving Him our whole heart. It’s like saying, “If You can have my wallet, You can have my time and my dreams too.” We should pray that our giving is just the start of a life that is totally dedicated to serving Jesus in everything we do.
Bible Verse: Romans 12:1 – “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”
How to pray: As you drop your offering in, say to God, “I’m not just giving this money, I’m giving You me.” Ask Him to use your whole life for His glory.
The Prayer: Lord, I give You this offering, but more than that, I give You myself. I want my whole life to be a gift to You. Use my hands to help people, my feet to go where You want, and my mouth to speak Your truth. I am Yours, Lord. Thank You for accepting me and using me to build Your kingdom here on earth. I love You with all I am. Amen.
31. For joy in the sacrifice
Sometimes giving feels like a sacrifice because we really wanted to use that money for something else. But a sacrifice made with love is a beautiful thing to God. We should pray that we find joy even when it feels a bit hard to give. It’s like when you buy a gift for someone you love; you don’t mind spending the money because you love them so much.
Bible Verse: Hebrews 13:16 – “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”
How to pray: If you are giving a large gift that feels “heavy,” ask God to fill you with a supernatural joy. Remind yourself of how much Jesus sacrificed for you.
The Prayer: Dear God, this offering feels like a big sacrifice for me today. But I want to give it because I love You so much. Please fill me with joy as I let go of this money. Remind me of how Jesus gave everything for me on the Cross. I am so happy to be able to give back to You. Thank You for the privilege of being part of Your work. Amen.
32. For those who are unemployed
It is so hard to sit in church when you don’t have a job and everyone else is giving. We should pray for those who are looking for work. We can ask God to open a door for them this very week. Our offerings can also help support them while they are waiting. We want our church to be a place where people find help to get back into the workforce and feel useful again.
Bible Verse: Matthew 6:33 – “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
How to pray: If you are out of work, pray for a “miracle interview.” If you have a job, pray for your friends who don’t and ask God to provide for them.
The Prayer: Lord, I pray for everyone in our church who is looking for a job right now. Please open the right doors and give them favor with employers. While they are waiting, please provide for all their needs in amazing ways. Let them know that You haven’t forgotten them. Thank You for being the One who provides work for our hands. We trust You to take care of us. Amen.
33. For honesty in our finances
It’s easy to try and “cheat” on our tithes by giving less than we know we should. But God sees everything! We should pray for the strength to be totally honest with our money. When we are honest with God, it makes it easier to be honest in the rest of our life too. We want to be people of integrity who do what we say we are going to do with our finances.
Bible Verse: Luke 16:10 – “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.”
How to pray: Ask God to help you be a person of your word. If you promised to give a certain amount, ask Him to help you follow through on that promise.
The Prayer: Dear God, please help me to be totally honest with my money. I don’t want to hide anything from You or try to keep what belongs to You. Give me a heart of integrity so that I can be trusted with more in the future. I want to honor You with the truth in every part of my life, especially with my wallet. Thank You for helping me do what is right. Amen.
34. For the power of testimony
When God blesses us after we give, we should tell people about it! A testimony is just a story of what God did. We should pray that our giving leads to amazing stories of God’s provision that we can share to encourage others. When people hear how God helped you pay your rent after you tithed, it helps their faith grow too. Your story could be the spark that helps someone else start trusting God.
Bible Verse: Revelation 12:11 – “They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony…”
How to pray: Ask God to do something so cool with your finances that you just have to tell someone about it. Pray for the courage to share your stories with your friends.
The Prayer: Lord, I can’t wait to see how You are going to provide for me after I give this. I pray that You would give me a great testimony of Your goodness. I want to tell everyone about how You are a faithful God who takes care of His children. Use my story to help other people trust You more. Thank You for the miracles You are working in my life today. Amen.
35. For the vision of the church
Every church has a “vision” or a goal for the future. Maybe they want to start a new campus or reach a new neighborhood. Our money is what helps that vision become a reality. We should pray that our offerings go toward the big things God wants to do in our city. We aren’t just paying bills; we are building the future! It’s exciting to be part of something that is bigger than ourselves.
Bible Verse: Habakkuk 2:2 – “Then the Lord replied: ‘Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.'”
How to pray: Ask your pastor what the big dream for the church is. Then, pray that your money helps that dream happen sooner rather than later.
The Prayer: Dear God, please bless the vision of our church. I give this offering to help make the big dreams You have given our leaders come true. I want to see our church grow and reach more people than ever before. Thank You for letting me be a “brick” in the wall of what You are building here. Let Your kingdom come and Your will be done through us. Amen.
36. A final prayer of total trust
This last prayer is just about putting everything in God’s hands. It’s the “I surrender” prayer. We are telling God that we know He is in control of the whole world and our little lives too. When we trust Him totally, we don’t have to worry about anything anymore. It’s the best way to live! Giving is just one way we show that we are leaning on Him completely every single day.
Bible Verse: Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
How to pray: Take a deep breath and let it out. Tell God that You trust Him with your money, your family, and your whole future. Let go of all your stress right now.
The Prayer: Lord, I trust You with all my heart. I am giving this final offering as a sign of my total surrender to You. I don’t have to understand how everything will work out because I know You are in control. Please lead me in the right way and take care of everything I need. Thank You for being a good and faithful Father who never lets me down. Amen.
FAQ about prayers for offerings and tithes
Do I have to say a specific prayer when I give? No, you don’t have to say anything fancy. God just wants to hear from your heart. You can use these prayers for offerings and tithes as a guide, but you can also just say, “Thanks, God!” The important thing is that you are talking to Him while you are giving. It makes the moment more special between you and Him.
What is the difference between a tithe and an offering? Usually, a tithe is the first 10 percent of what you earn—it’s like the “base amount” we give to God. An offering is anything you give on top of that, like for a special project or to help a missionary. Both are great ways to show God that you love Him. You can pray for both of them in the same way!
Is it okay to pray for more money? I think so, as long as your heart is in the right place. If you want more money just to buy fancy cars, that might be greed. But if you want more money to take care of your family and give more to the church, God loves that! He wants us to have enough so that we can be a blessing to others.
Should I pray before or after I give? You can do both! I like to pray before I give so my heart is ready, and then I say a quick “Thank You” after I drop the money in. Some people like to pray over their check at home before they even get to church. There is no wrong time to pray about your generosity.
Does God get mad if I can’t give anything? Not at all. God loves you for who you are, not for how much money you have. If you are going through a real hard time, God sees that. He wants your heart more than Your money. You can always give Him your time or your prayers until you have money to share again.
Giving should be a time of joy, not a time of stress. I hope these words help you to feel a lot more comfortable the next time you are ready to give back to God. He is so good to us and He always keeps His promises. When you use prayers for offerings and tithes, you are connecting with the Heart of God and that is the best feeling in the world. Have a great time at church this week and remember that God is always on your side!
